VoIP Monitoring

VoIP monitoring
challenges
VoIP platforms typically expose only a limited set of performance metrics. This lack of visibility makes troubleshooting difficult, increases mean time to resolution (MTTR), and leaves IT teams reacting instead of preventing issues.
Enterprises also face the complexity of dealing with multiple vendors, protocols, and environments — from on-premise PBXs to cloud collaboration platforms — with no single interface to consolidate information. As a result, voice quality problems such as jitter, packet loss, and latency often remain hidden until users start complaining.
Other common challenges include:
- Fragmented visibility: call statistics may be spread across different tools or dashboards, making correlation slow and error-prone.
- Limited historical data: retention of VoIP metrics is often short, which prevents long-term analysis and trend detection.
- Reactive monitoring: many tools only report when a call fails, but lack proactive detection of degradations in quality.
- Complex troubleshooting: identifying whether a problem comes from the LAN, WAN, ISP, or the VoIP service itself usually requires manual correlation and specialized expertise.
- Scalability issues: as organizations adopt hybrid work and UCaaS solutions, traditional VoIP monitoring tools struggle to keep up with the volume and diversity of calls.
All these challenges mean that ensuring consistent call quality and user experience across the organization is both time-consuming and costly.

VoIP Monitoring
Observability benefits
Thanks to the smart data broker, can integrate data from every
Traditional monitoring tools struggle to provide end-to-end visibility of VoIP performance. Viewtinet overcomes these limitations with its visual Smart Data Broker – Viewtilog, which unifies all metrics, logs, and events into a single observability platform.
With Viewtinet, enterprises benefit from:
Full integration across environments: consolidate data from on-premise SBCs, cloud-based voice services, and unified communications platforms.
Native API connectors: out-of-the-box integrations with all cloud providers and collaboration tools ensure fast deployment without complex customization.
CDRs and CMRs integration: Call Detail Records and Call Management Records are automatically ingested and analyzed, providing granular visibility into every session.
Multi-vendor interoperability: monitor heterogeneous networks and devices under one unified interface.
Advanced analytics and dashboards: leverage real-time metrics, historical trends, and intelligent alarms to accelerate troubleshooting and reduce MTTR.
Since these integrations come by default, organizations can rapidly deploy VoIP observability without long integration projects, ensuring immediate value and a proactive approach to voice quality management.
VoIP monitoring with wire data
service assurance
In some environments, monitoring VoIP performance requires visibility beyond the metrics provided by SBCs or cloud platforms. With the Viewtimon network probe, organizations can directly analyze IP traffic and extract the KPIs that matter most for voice quality.
How it works?
- Traffic capture: The probe inspects SIP signaling and RTP media flows in real time.
- KPI extraction: Key metrics such as jitter, latency, packet loss, and MOS are calculated per call.
- Session correlation: Calls are mapped end-to-end, correlating signaling with media quality.
- Granular visibility: Every call can be monitored and analyzed, regardless of vendor or environment.
- Active testing: with Viewtimon active probe you can perform SIP and RTP tests from different sites.
Benefits
- Proactive quality assurance: Detect degradations before they impact users.
- Independent validation: Monitor performance independently of the VoIP provider.
- Faster troubleshooting: Isolate whether issues originate in the LAN, WAN, ISP, or service platform.
With this approach, enterprises gain visibility of VoIP performance, reducing MTTR and guaranteeing consistent user experience.

VoIP Monitoring
advanced analytics and alarms
VoIP analytics and monitoring solutions are sometimes seen as complex technologies that require high expertise to exploit. On the contrary, Viewtinet provides an intuitive reporting tool: Viewtisight. Not only you can benefit from the out-of-the-box dashboards, but also create new customized ones with few clicks. In addition, you can configure automated reports.
Create charts with an editor, select the metrics, dimensions, and filters with few clicks. No complex query language is needed. Additionally, you can drill-down in each of the fields of the charts for further analysis.
What is more, you can create interactive buttons to filter charts according to a specific origin or destination caller, site, device, channel, etc.
Gain proactivity by setting automatic alarms. Receive notifications or integrate them with third parties. In fact, in every report and dashboard, you can easily set the thresholds to see when any metric (like jitter, packet loss, MOS) is exceeding the normal values.
VoIP monitoring,
end to end
Forget about heavy integrations and neverending projects: Viewtinet makes the data ingestion for you. Indeed all the data integration (Call Detail Records, Call management records, data from endpoints, data from session border controllers) is included in the product license.
In fact, extraction, transformation, load, normalization, storage, data analytics, alarms, multitenancy, etc. Everything is under the same product. To summarize, it is a complete end-to-end solution that goes from data extraction up to the analytics layer.

VoIP monitoring,
required products and licenses
Viewtinet has a simple licensing model. Normally, Viewtinet proposes a perpetual license with an annual support renewable contract. However, if you prefer a monthly subscription this is also an available option.
As per every project of Viewtinet, the Viewtisight license is required. In addition, we need Viewtilog to ingest, transform, and load the VoIP data. In brief, Viewtilog depends on the number of data sources and the daily ingested volume of data.
If you need to monitor IP traffic in order to extract SIP and RTP KPIs, you will need the Viewtimon probe. Viewtimon is licensed based on the throughput it analyzes.
VoIP monitoring deployment
physical, private cloud, & public cloud
Viewtinet works with value-added resellers to provide turnkey projects to our customers. In fact, Viewtinet supports deployments in private cloud, public cloud, and also in dedicated Viewtinet appliances.
Viewtinet appliances are specially designed to manage a vast amount of logs. The storage is configurable to provide the desired retention time. Moreover, they support high-availability configurations at different levels.
There are also mini-pc devices that can perform VoIP active testing from different sites of your network.
